Los Gatos Parent Nursery School | Los Gatos, CA

Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, a parent cooperative established in 1946, is looking for a passionate early childhood educator to be our next Lead Teacher and Director. We serve about 65 families a year, September - May, in a joyful, play-based program for children ages 2 to 6, where children and parents learn and grow together.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a part-time, hybrid position combining teaching with director responsibilities. You will spend half of your time in the classroom, bringing our play-based philosophy to life alongside a small, dedicated teaching team. Layered on top are the director responsibilities that keep our school thriving: guiding staff, overseeing operations and licensing, and partnering with our parent community and Board of Directors.

    What you will do

    • Teach in our classroom and lead our play-based, developmental program day to day.
    • Mentor and support our teaching staff and shape curriculum together.
    • Oversee daily operations and ensure licensing, health, and safety compliance.
    • Welcome and guide prospective and enrolled families in our cooperative model.
    • Partner with the Board of Directors on planning and school culture.
    • Maintain active participation in the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS) and the Santa Clara Valley Council (SCVC)
    • Support responsible stewardship of school resources and materials
    • Ensure all student records and enrollment documentation are complete and compliant with licensing requirements prior to the start of the school year.
    • Assist with planning and coordination of school events and community-building activities.
    • Works in conjunction with Board of Directions to ensure co-op participation aligns with school planning, requirements and culture

    What we are looking for

    • A bachelor's degree (education or child development preferred) plus at least 12 ECE units.
    • Must obtain a current California Child Development Director Permit or Site Supervisor Permit prior to start date.
    • A genuine commitment to play-based, developmental early learning.
    • Leadership experience, including staff supervision, and a warm, collaborative style.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Must meet all California Community Care Licensing requirements (fingerprint clearance, TB screening, immunizations, CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter training).
