JANUARY 2008

January 1: Resolution Run
5 mile run from Los Gatos High School. Starts at 9 am. Please call Athletic Performance at 408-354-7365 for more information.

January 9: International Auto Show Preview Charity Gala for CASA
6:00-9:00 pm. Support Los Gatos youth programs and join friends in viewing the newest model cars at San Jose McEnery Convention Center.    Tickets are $75, includes live music, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and entrance to the auto show. 100% of ticket price goes to CASA.  Purchase tickets at www.casalgca.org.

April 19: Get Your Green On 10am to 4pm on Los Gatos High School Front Lawn. Hosted by West Valley Green Leaf. Green your home/business. Get involved. Green your lifestyle. Free event. April 20: The Great Race from Saratoga to Los Gatos
The run/walk begins at 9 am. Race begins at the corner of Big Basin Way and 3rd St. in downtown Saratoga. Shuttles on Grays Lane (between N. April 20: Earth Day Celebration at Nirvana
Noon to 4pm at Nirvana, 224-B N. Santa Cruz Ave. Silent auction and raffles, guest appearance by Steve Cabarello and other local pro surfers and skaters. D.J. music by Jaime Gonzalez, live music by Careless Hearts, food and beverages. April 25: Arbor Day & Tree City USA Celebration
The Town of Los Gatos has been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor
Day Foundation for the 28th year in a row! This award represents the commitment of the Town to preserve and enhance its urban forests. Join the town as we celebrate National Arbor Day and this special recognition with a tree planting ceremony at Daves Avenue Elementary School, 17770 Daves Avenue, Los Gatos. April 26: March of Dimes Walk for Babies
This event will begin and end at Vasona Park. 5am to 6pm. 6.25 miles. March for Babies is the new name for WalkAmerica. The money raised through March for Babies will support lifesaving research, community services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.

April 26: Los Gatos Trail Clean Up 9am to 12:30pm. Leadership Los Gatos Class of 2007/2008 and West Valley Green Leaf invite you and your family to participate in this fun Los Gatos Trail Clean Up event. Meet at the amphitheater behind Borders Books at 9am for coffee and pastries. Garbage bags and trail maps marked with areas of interest to clean will be provided. April 26: The Look of Los Gatos – Los Gatos High School Fashion Show 3pm to 5pm, presented by CASA. For preferred seating, purchase tickets in advance at www.casalgca.org. April 27: Paint Our Town Purple hosted by American Cancer Society volunteers. Hang some purple decorations at your business, home, or school or wear your favorite purple clothes to support Relay for Life, which will be held on July 19th at Rolling Hills Middle School. There will be information tables at the park by the post office on April 27th. MAY 2008

May 2: Annual Big Deal 2008, 50's Sock Hop
6-11 PM at the Opera House. Rock Around The Clock! Ticket price is $75 which includes food and all drinks, music, dancing, contests, live and silent auction and lots of fun!  A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation, supporting scholarships for LGHS graduating seniors planning to study business in college. We will also be raffling a $6000 luxury Alaskan Cruise from Travel Advisors of Los Gatos. Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $125-(you need not be present at the event to win but you don't want to miss the fun). May 16: Los Gatos Ballet Spring Performance at Campbell Heritage Theatre, 10:30am and 7:30pm. Tickets: $15, $18, $22. Senior and Group Discounts available. Box Office:408.866.2700. Los Gatos Ballet presents CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS, an original production set to the classic music of CAmille Saint Saens. May 17: "Town of the Cats" will be proclaimed, "The Town of the Dogs" for a day. 11am. This is an opportunity for the Bay Area to experience just how dog-friendly Los Gatos is for visitors. This family friendly event sponsored by the Humane Society Silicon Valley, Pet Pals, and Los Gatos Unleashed will encourage people to shop and dine in Los Gatos and celebrate the magic of the human-dog bond. Bring your family, including your dogs, to the Old Town shopping center in downtown Los Gatos and join in the fun! The festivities begin at 11:00 am.

May 17: Community-Wide Garage Sale 9 AM to 3 PM. A map of the registered residences for the garage sale will be released before the event and will be available at the Neighborhood Center, Town Clerk's Office, the library, at local 7-11 stores and Safeway stores, as well as Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Co. June 22: 2008 Silicon Valley Duck Race at Vasona Park. 11am: Carnival, Food and Games. 1pm: Duck Race Begins. Winners will be announced directly after the race. Proceeds benefit Jewish Family Services. 10,000 rubber ducks will pour from the bed of a dump truck, float down the stream, and eventually into the prize picking net. These are local agencies that provide shelter and related services.
